An experienced and highly regarded Highlands Ranch and Denver dentist  with a particular interest in esthetic dentistry, Dr. James DeLapp has been practicing in his home community of Centennial,and Highlands Ranch Colorado, for more that 26 years. Upon completing his Bachelor's (BA) and Master's degree MA) in Biological Science at the University of Northern Colorado, Dr. DeLapp spent four years as a forensic scientist in the Northern Colorado area.
 
Following this, he went on to earn his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. Currently, Dr. James DeLapp is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in Operative Dentistry (fillings) and Fixed Prostodontics (traditional crowns and bridges). In addition Dr. James DeLapp is a course instructor in the Cosmetic Dentistry course held at the University that teaches the many procedures to improve the looks of patients smile. This includes teeth bleaching (whitening) teeth, ceramic or porcelain  dental veneer,s crowns,and Invisalign  to name a few.

Dr. DeLapp has many professional and personal achievements to his credit. Dr. DeLapp has served as:
 
 
 In addition, he maintains membership in the American Dental Association,Colorado Dental Association, and Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, as well as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. As an advocate for continuing education, he attends many dental courses, including the nationally recognized Las Vegas Institute and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry lectures and hands on courses to name a few.

 Dr James DeLapp and Dr H. Candace DeLapp were recognized by the University of Colorado School of Dentistry as the "2008 Alumnus of the Year".  Also in 2009 Dr. DeLapp was inducted into the Pierre Fauchard Academy.  The Pierre Fauchard Academy is an International Honorary Dental Organization recognizing outstanding dentists and celebrating their cahievements.  He is truly humbled and honored to be inducted.

Dr. DeLapp's teaching experience has revolved around cosmetic dentistry, general dentistry, anesthesiology and sedation, medical emergencies, and photography.
Dr. DeLapp enjoys giving back to the community as a volunteer in both dentistry and in areas outside of dentistry. His volunteer hours number in the hundreds per year. His interests and hobbies are varied and emphasize athletics.
 
 In 1995 he earned a master's degree in exercise science from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. His research and studies were conducted at the Olympic Training Center and the International Center for Aquatic Research (ICAR). His studies were primarily concerned with the physiology and biomechanics of world-class swimmers. His part-time hobbies focus on swimming, primarily as a coach, official, and researcher. Currently Dr. DeLapp is a swim official and swim coach and one of his swimmers was an Olympic Trials Finalist.  He also is General Chairman of Colorado Swimming 2007-2009 which involves some 10,000 swimmers and over 100 swim teams.

Dr. DeLapp is married and practices dentistry with his wife, Candace. Their daughter, Sarah, attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she majored in Biological Science. At CSU Sarah was a scholarship athlete for the Rams in swimming. Sarah earned All- Academic Mountain West Conference award in college for her contributions to the CSU swim team. Sarah graduated from Colorado State University in 2004 and is currently a Senior at University of Colorado School of Dentistry class of 2010.
